Because I'm a bit OCD, I learned as much as possible about TTC the month we started trying. So, I was off and running with my fertility friend charting software. I was temping, using OPKs, using a fertility monitor, using sperm friendly lubricant, etc. After 6 months of BFNs, we were off to see the RE.
My FSH and Estradiol were normal nut my AMH was extremely low at .3. My tubes looked good. So, we started on a 3 month trial of clomid. It worked well the 1st month (or at least I had a strong ovulation). BFN, though. It didn't work at all the 2nd month, and my cycle was only 19 days. The third month, I Od, but it was early and wasn't particularly strong. BFN.
After the clomid treatments weren't very successful, my RE decided it was time to move on to injectables with IUI. Waiting for my next cycle to start, I had another 19 day cycle and my pre-O temps were really high (above 98). So, at this point, I fully believe that I am perimenopausal and have very little time left.
So, this is my first month of doing injectables which I can't really afford, but I definitely can't afford IVF. So, it better work or DH will never have children. :(
I was terrified of doing the injections because I was sure I would have a mental block and not be able to do it. Fortunately, that was not an issue for the first shot, and after I realized that they didn't hurt, it's been quite easy! Now I'm 3 shots in, and I go in Wednesday for my estradiol test. Based on those results, they will adjust my medication dosage and/or schedule my first ultrasound to start monitoring the size of my follicles. I can't wait to see if this works! Fingers crossed!
